AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE

Do LF and CRLF line endings change an AI code detector score?

For Is My Code AI, changing otherwise identical code between LF and CRLF line endings does not change the configured heuristic matches or score. The analyzer splits on either newline form before checking each line.

The line-based analysis runs in your browser; submitted code is not uploaded.

What the analyzer does with line endings

The current analyzer divides the supplied text at LF and CRLF newline boundaries, then evaluates the resulting lines against its configured style rules. With the same code characters and line order, either of those two common line-ending conventions produces the same lines for those checks.

That means converting a file from LF to CRLF alone does not add or remove a matched signal in this implementation. A change to the code itself, such as editing a comment or identifier, can still affect which rules match.

What about the reported line numbers?

Line references are based on the lines after that split, so LF and CRLF versions with the same line order point to the same one-based line positions. The first submitted line is reported as line 1.

This statement covers LF and CRLF. A file using a different separator or containing changed text is not the same input case.

A stable score is still only a heuristic

The score totals weights for configured style signals. Matching the same rules after a line-ending conversion does not establish who wrote the code or whether an AI tool was involved.
