AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE

Are AI code detector line numbers zero-based or one-based?

Is My Code AI uses one-based line numbers: the first line in the code you submit is line 1. The same numbering is used for flagged lines in the report and in the downloaded JSON.

Line matching happens in your browser; submitted code is not uploaded.

How to read the line reference

A line reference points to the line’s position in the exact text sent to the analyzer. For example, line 1 is the first line you pasted or the first line of that selected file; line 2 is the next line. This is the familiar editor-style count, not a zero-based array index.

In a folder scan, each file is analyzed separately, so its line count starts again at line 1. The detailed report identifies matched lines for the file currently shown.

If you submitted only a snippet

For a partial snippet, line 1 means the first line of the snippet—not its original line number in your repository. The detector receives the text you provide and does not know where a copied excerpt came from. Use the snippet’s own numbering when locating a match in the full file.

Line references are review pointers

A flagged line marks where a configured heuristic matched. A line number helps you find that text; it does not indicate that the line is wrong or identify who wrote it.

Open the AI code detector, then see how to review flagged lines or how to scan a partial code snippet.
