AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE

Can an AI code detector tell if code is safe?

No. Is My Code AI's score describes configured code-style rules. It does not evaluate code safety, correctness, quality, or whether a change is ready to ship.

In Is My Code AI, analysis stays in your browser.

What this detector reports

Is My Code AI looks for a defined set of code-style signals and shows the combined weight of matched rules and the lines associated with those matches. Its published rules include comment phrasing, long documentation-style comments, highly descriptive identifiers, repeated comments, explicit AI-tool mentions in comments, and certain defensive error text.

That report tells you what this particular rule set matched in the code you supplied. It does not turn a style signal into a general judgment about the change.

Safety is a different review question

A style heuristic does not run code, inspect how it behaves with inputs, validate its dependencies, or test whether a change meets a project's security requirements. A low score does not make code safe, and a high score does not show that code is unsafe.

Likewise, a report cannot establish who wrote the code or whether a specific AI product was involved. The score is limited to the configured rules that produced it.

Use the report as one review prompt

A flagged line can be a useful prompt to read the surrounding implementation and ask why that pattern is present. Keep that question separate from questions about behavior, correctness, tests, dependencies, and project review requirements.

When a change needs a safety review, use the checks appropriate to that change and its environment. A code-style report can add context, but it cannot replace those checks.

Review locally without uploading source code

Is My Code AI runs in the current browser. You can paste code, choose supported source files, or select a local folder; submitted code is not uploaded by this static site. The language picker supports Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, PHP, and C#.
