AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE
Why does an AI code detector flag a descriptive identifier?
Is My Code AI flags a declared identifier when its spelling matches a configured multi-word naming pattern. That match says something about the text of the name, not whether the name is good, who chose it, or whether AI wrote the code.
Is My Code AI analyzes submitted code locally in your browser.
What this naming rule actually checks
The rule looks for a declaration keyword followed by a lower-case word and at least two capitalized word segments. It is a text pattern, not an assessment of whether the identifier accurately describes the value. In the current detector, the rule is named Highly descriptive multi-word identifier.
For example, this line matches the rule:
const calculateMonthlyRevenue = 42;
When run alone through the current heuristic, it produces one matched rule, one flagged line, and a matched weight of 7 out of the configured maximum of 76. These are rule outputs for this example, not an AI-authorship probability.
Similar code can produce a different result
These standalone lines did not match the naming rule when each was tested separately:
const total = 42;
const calculate_monthly_revenue = 42;
calculateMonthlyRevenue();
The first declaration lacks the multi-word capitalized sequence. The second uses underscores. The last line refers to a name without a declaration keyword. Those differences explain the rule output; they do not tell you which name is clearer or how the code was created. If you submit all three lines together, other configured rules could still match other text in the input.
Should you rename a flagged identifier?
Read the declaration in its project context first. Does the name identify the value's role? Does it follow the repository's naming convention? Would a shorter name make the code easier or harder to understand? Those are code-review questions; the detector does not answer them.
Renaming only to change a heuristic result can make the code less clear. Keep a useful name when it suits the project. If the name is misleading, improve it for that reason and review its uses. A flagged line is a place to inspect, not a required edit.
Read the whole report
The detector adds the configured weights of rules that match the submitted code and lists their associated lines. A descriptive identifier is one possible code-style signal among the current rules. The overall score and highlighted line cannot establish authorship.
Try the AI code detector with code you can review in context. It supports Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, PHP, and C#. Submitted code is not uploaded by this static site. See how to read flagged lines and what the score means for the rest of the report.
