AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE

Does changing the language selector change an AI code detector score?

For the same submitted source code, changing the language selector in Is My Code AI does not change its current heuristic score or matched rules. The analyzer receives the code text, not the selector value. The choice helps identify the input and choose a sample, but it does not switch to a separate language-specific scoring model.

Is My Code AI analyzes submitted code locally in your browser.

What the selector currently does

The interface offers Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, PHP, and C#. If you choose a built-in sample, the current selector value determines which sample code is loaded into the editor. If you select local files, the first supported file's extension sets the displayed language choice.

When you press the analysis button, the tool sends the current source text to the same configured heuristic rules. It does not pass the selected language into the analysis function. This describes the current implementation of this site, not the behavior of other code detectors.

Why a score might still change after you switch languages

If you switch the selector and then click the sample button, the editor receives a different sample. A different input can match different rules and produce a different score. The change comes from the code that was analyzed, not from a new scoring rule for the selected language.

The same distinction matters when comparing a pasted snippet with an uploaded file or a local folder. Check which source was actually scanned before attributing a different report to the language control.

A controlled way to compare reports

  1. Paste the code you want to inspect and keep an exact copy of it.
  2. Run the analysis and note the matched rules and flagged lines.
  3. Change only the language selector, leaving the code text untouched, then run it again.

The current analyzer will apply the same rules to that unchanged text. If you instead load a new sample or edit the code, you have changed the input and are running a different comparison. The score is the combined weight of matched code-style patterns; it is not an authorship verdict.

Use the report within its limits

The rules can point you to comments, names, or error text worth reading in context. They do not prove who wrote the code. A language choice is not evidence of origin either.
