AI CODE DETECTOR GUIDE
Can an AI code detector compare two code versions?
Is My Code AI does not calculate a version-to-version diff. It analyzes the source text you provide and reports a heuristic score, matched rules, and flagged lines. To review two revisions, find their changes with version control, then inspect each detector report in the context of its own revision.
Is My Code AI analyzes submitted code locally in your browser.
What the detector report can tell you
For each submitted input, Is My Code AI shows which configured code-style rules matched and which lines were associated with them. The score combines the weights of those matches. It does not label lines as newly added, removed, or unchanged between revisions.
A report is tied to the exact text that was analyzed. If you replace an older file with a newer one, the second score summarizes that newer input; the difference between the scores is not a measurement of how much code changed.
A practical way to review two revisions
- Keep the revision identifiers for the earlier and later versions.
- Use your version-control diff to locate the changed lines and surrounding code.
- Analyze the relevant file or snippet from each revision separately, using a consistent scope.
- Compare the matched rule names and read each flagged line in its own version. Line numbers can move when code is inserted or removed.
Keeping the revision and file path with each report makes it clear which source produced each result. If the two inputs differ in size or scope, their scores are summaries of different text and should not be treated as a direct before-and-after measure.
Do not treat a changed score as an authorship finding
A changed report means the configured matches or their combined weights differ for the submitted text. It does not show who made the changes or whether AI was involved. A clear explanation, common template, or ordinary project convention can produce a style match.
Use the report to choose code that deserves a closer read. Review behavior, tests, and project context to assess the change itself.
Run a local report
